The Flight of the Yankee Lady
1st Vice Commander Jack Weber had the honor to fly with the crew of the Yankee Lady to and from Willow Run and Muskegon MI. The Yankee Lady is a WWII 2 completely restored B17 Bomber whose home is at the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run.

2020 Memorial Day
Major Oakman Hurd (RIP)
On July 1 the AMVETS Honor Guard and VFW Post 9914 rendered military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery for Major Oakman Hurd. Major Hurd was a decorated Army (Huey) helicopter pilot in Viet Nam. He was awarded The Silver Star for gallantry above and beyond the call of duty during a rescue operation in Viet Nam. Major Hurd was a member of AMVETS Post 2006 and VFW Post 9914.
The Rifle Team was commanded by John Robinson and consisted of AMVETS members Paul Clover, Richard Fauklner, Larry Shaver, Steve Moore, Michael Willihnganz and Bob Szymanski. Joe Salvia assisted with the Army flag folding and presentation team. VFW members provided the Color Guard and VFW Post 9914 hosted the Hurd family and friends with a luncheon in honor of Oakman at their Post.
