Commander’s Welcome

Welcome to American Veterans Post 2006 in Milford Michigan. This Post was chartered in March of 2006 for the purpose of providing an organization that includes all military veterans who were honorably discharged from 1942 through present day. The Post includes a majority of Veterans who otherwise would not be able to join other Veterans Service Organizations (VSO’s) due to eligibility requirements. Peacetime and Cold War Veterans are examples of those Veterans we welcome and encourage to be part our Post.

Since our charter, the Post has grown from an initial membership of 15, to a present day number of 172. Our members are enjoying the camaraderie of other veterans, while supporting projects and functions designed to support veterans, veteran’s families, and the community.

Thank you for visiting our website. Should you have additional questions about our Post feel  free to notify us via our contact page.

General Membership Meeting April 2019

Donation made to the Post

At our March meeting, Commander Salvia received a generous donation on behalf of the Post from the Roger Althouse family. The Althouse family holds a golf outing in honor of their son Craig Althouse who lost his life in a snowmobile accident in 2015.

The family donates one-third of the charity proceeds to Milford’s American Veterans Post 2006 for their use in helping local veterans in need of assistance. “We want to do something to help veterans each year because Craig always had a high degree of respect for people who served our country,” said Roger. “He donated to veteran organizations and always found time to tell soldiers that he appreciated their service.”

The third annual Craig Althouse golf outing will be held at Hartland Glenn on Saturday, July 15. If you would like to participate, visit Althouseamericanopen.com.

Pictured below (left to right) are Roger Althouse, Commander Salvia, and Jessie Warner, a close friend of Craig.

Craig’s Mom, Deb, was also present at the meeting.

Navy Frank’s 98th Birthday Celebration

At our General Membership Meeting the Post celebrated the 98th birthday of Navy Frank Quinlan. Frank continues to participate in a majority of the Post’s activities including Color Guards and other Veterans celebrations. What an honor it is to have Frank as part of Post 2006. Happy birthday Frank, and many more!

Pictured below are all of our Navy/Marine members celebrating with Frank and Annamarie. There were cupcakes for all, baked and decorated by Delores Salvia.
