75th Wedding anniversary of Frank and Annamarie Quinlan

Post member Frank Quinlan and his wife Annamarie just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. In their 90’s this couple participates in many of our Post activities such as the recent Flag Day fundraiser. Navy Frank supports our Color Guard and various other public service events every chance he gets. We are honored to have Frank and Annamarie as part of our Post.

Donation made to the Post

At our March meeting, Commander Salvia received a generous donation on behalf of the Post from the Roger Althouse family. The Althouse family holds a golf outing in honor of their son Craig Althouse who lost his life in a snowmobile accident in 2015.

The family donates one-third of the charity proceeds to Milford’s American Veterans Post 2006 for their use in helping local veterans in need of assistance. “We want to do something to help veterans each year because Craig always had a high degree of respect for people who served our country,” said Roger. “He donated to veteran organizations and always found time to tell soldiers that he appreciated their service.”

The third annual Craig Althouse golf outing will be held at Hartland Glenn on Saturday, July 15. If you would like to participate, visit Althouseamericanopen.com.

Pictured below (left to right) are Roger Althouse, Commander Salvia, and Jessie Warner, a close friend of Craig.

Craig’s Mom, Deb, was also present at the meeting.

Rosie the Riveter’s

At our March membership meeting we had the pleasure of welcoming Maggie Morris and Alison Beatty, two members of the Yankee museum’s Tribute Rosie team. They were also here to observe the parade route for the upcoming Memorial Day Parade where they will be performing. In the bottom photo they are joined by two of our WWII veterans, Frank Quinlan and Lewis Bradbury.

A great night at March’s VFW Post 9914 social night

We had a large turnout at this month’s Social Night at the VFW. We appreciate the hospitality shown to the members of AMVETS Post 2006 at these monthly social evenings.

Doug Raupp
Doug served in the United States Marine Corps and was an active member of our Post.  In fact, he attended our last meeting. He was out of town visiting his grandchildren when he passed away.
Visitation will be at Elton-Black Funeral Home in Highland MI this Sunday from 2 until 8. Services will be held on Monday at 11 with Military Honors to follow.

Jim Manderville Recognition

Pictured below (left to right) are Commander Joe Salvia, Public Relations Officer Gordon Muir, Jim Manderville, Frank Quinlan, and Robert Matheson.

At our February General Membership meeting, Mr. James Manderville was recognized for his donation of a stairlift to Post member Frank Quinlan. Gordon Muir and Robert Matheson were instrumental in procuring and installing the stairlift for the Quinlan’s.

Navy Frank’s 98th Birthday Celebration

At our General Membership Meeting the Post celebrated the 98th birthday of Navy Frank Quinlan. Frank continues to participate in a majority of the Post’s activities including Color Guards and other Veterans celebrations. What an honor it is to have Frank as part of Post 2006. Happy birthday Frank, and many more!

Pictured below are all of our Navy/Marine members celebrating with Frank and Annamarie. There were cupcakes for all, baked and decorated by Delores Salvia.
